Ibexa backs the extended lifecycle of Symfony 5.4

To express our commitment to Customers and Partners, we’ve decided to prioritize their peace of mind: instead of upgrading to the latest Symfony version, we’ve made a choice to stay on Symfony 5.4 throughout the entire lifecycle of our Long-Term Support (LTS) release, and the End of Life (EOL) of Ibexa DXP v4.6 is scheduled for February 2029.

Ensuring Security through Sponsorship
Symfony 5.4 would normally have reached its End of Life (EOL) date soon, meaning that it would no longer receive security updates or patches. For us, leaving hundreds if not thousands of content- and e-commerce-oriented websites vulnerable to potential threats was out of question. Therefore, when we chose to stay with Symfony 5.4, we took action to make sure that Ibexa DXP v4.6 LTS remains secure throughout its entire lifecycle. We entered into a strategic sponsorship agreement with Symfony, which ensures that security updates for Symfony 5.4 are provided by Symfony until the end of February 2029, the EOL date for Ibexa DXP 4.6 LTS.

With Ibexa DXP evolving into v5.x, it starts relying on Symfony 7 as its base platform, which promises further enhancements in performance and reliability.
